NBA:”Dear Basketball” nominated: Kobe Bryant beckons an Oscar

Former basketball superstar Kobe Bryant is awarded an Oscar. His animated film “Dear Basketball” put it on the list of candidates for the 90. Presentation of the Academy Awards on 4. March in Los Angeles. Bryant (39), five-time NBA champion and two-time Olympic champion, is a screenwriter and producer.

Ten of the original 63 candidates were shortlisted, and now the five films that make up the race for the valuable trophy at the Hollywood awards ceremony have been decided. Bryant competes with his work against the movies “Garden Party”,”Lou”,”Negative Space” and “Revolting Rhymes”.

Disney artist Glen Keane’s five-minute short film “Dear Basketball” is the adaptation of a poem that Bryant published when he announced his resignation in autumn 2015. In the spring of 2016, after 20 years in the jersey of the Los Angeles Lakers, the 18-time all-star was retired from the stalls.
