Olympia 2018: Biathlete Peiffer criticizes Olympic development and DOSB

Former biathlon world champion Arnd Peiffer was annoyed by various restrictions and criticized the DOSB two weeks before the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, saying:”There is always a little bit of stress because of nothing,”Peiffer said:”And the DOSB comes out of its deep sleep every two years and thinks it has to do a little bit of actionism”.

The 30-year-old hinted above all at the, in his opinion, far too strictly regulated processes around the winter highlight:”You can’t say that or post this. On the outward flight, you have to wear exactly these things and make umpteen requests if a sponsor posts anything related to your name,”complained Peiffer, who is contesting his third winter games in South Korea.

When the games are awarded, it’s not always a question of whether great and fair competitions can be held there,”said Peiffer, who added in NDR:”People have moved a long way from the Olympic core. The myth of Olympia has lost a lot of its population.”

Peiffer, who won the silver medal four years ago in Sochi with the German men’s relay team, has no illusions before leaving for South Korea:”You can’t influence everything. And I am sure that everything in Pyeongchang will be a little less professional and that we will have better training opportunities at every World Cup venue than there,”said Peiffer.
