Olympia 2018: Guidelines for OAR athletes: Russian flag allowed in the room

The IOC has issued a code of conduct for the Russian delegation at the Winter Games in Pyeongchang/South Korea (9. till 25. February). Whoever is admitted as “Olympic Athlete from Russia” (OAR) may hang the Russian flag in his room in the Olympic Village – otherwise it is taboo everywhere.

At the beginning of December, the IOC had excluded the Russian Olympic Committee from the games because of systematic doping, but had promised clean Russian athletes a start under the Olympic flag and anthem.

On Thursday, Russia’s National Olympic Committee (ROC) presented a list of 169 athletes for Pyeongchang, but the participation of the athletes has not yet been confirmed.

The list of conduct guidelines now has eleven points. For example, it states that athletes are only allowed to wear clothing and accessories (including pins) that meet the exact IOC specifications. In addition to the national flag and Russian emblems, the NOK logo is also prohibited.

This also applies to social media activities. Also, of course, the athletes in Pyeongchang are not allowed to accept Russian flags from other people.
