NFL: After Super Bowl bankruptcy: Gronkowski considers career end
The New England Patriots could be facing an extremely bitter off-season: After the Super Bowl bankruptcy against the Philadelphia Eagles, Rob Gronkowski announced that he might end his career.
When asked by a reporter whether the early end of his career could be an option, Gronkowski replied after the Super Bowl:”I don’t know where you got this information from. But I will definitely worry about my future. and then we’ll see where I stand.”
The tight end had some dominant phases, especially in the second half of the duel with the Eagles, in total he caught nine passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. At the same time, however, Gronk has had to cope with injury problems again and again over the past few years.
The 28-year-old only played eight games in the pre-season, and most recently suffered a concussion in the AFC Championship Game against Jacksonville. Gronkowski’s contract runs until 2019, including 2019, over the next two years his cap hit is 10.9 and then $12 million.
