Andreas Wellinger made a convincing impression on the first training day of the ski jumpers at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang – Richard Freitag, on the other hand, revealed problems with changing winds. With his six jumps from the normal jump, the 26 year old World Championships third in ski flying only managed to reach a top 10 position once (ranked sixth).

On Fridays, on the other hand, four years younger team mate Wellinger was number one twice. The team Olympic champion of Sochi, with 110.5 metres in the third round of the first training session in the morning, was also the best of the day, with 103.5 metres being booked for Friday.

While Wellinger and Freitag did all six jumps and took full advantage of their test possibilities, some of the favourites were still holding back. This is also the case for Poland’s World Cup leader Kamil Stoch, who wants to repeat his Sochi 2014 gold double in Pyeongchang.

After three good jumps in practice one, Stoch missed the remaining three jumps. Even without a single jump ski flying world champion Daniel Andre Tande from Norway remained.
