NFL: Chiefs dismiss Cornerback Darrelle Revis
The Darrelle-Revis episode in Kansas City was only short: The Chiefs fired the Cornerback on Thursday, so Revis can sign with every team. But also the career end seems to be an option.
Only a little over two months earlier, the Chiefs Revis had signed up, the now 32-year-old was deployed five times in the regular season as well as at this year’s only playoff game for KC. There he was involved in Marcus Mariota’s strange touchdown pass to himself.
Kansas City also received Redskins Cornerback Kendall Fuller as part of the surprising Alex Smith trade, which made Revis even more dispensable. Otherwise, however, it was more than unlikely that the experienced rider would remain in KC.
The Chiefs had signed a contract with Revis, which was strongly marked by bonuses – the ten million dollars he would theoretically have received at the start of the league’s 2018 year, he will not get through the dismissal. This raises the question of whether Revis might be able to have another discussion about the training camp starts in summer – or whether he will end his career now.
