Olympia 2018: Schröcksnadel no longer finds Olympia fascinating

On today’s opening day, ÖSV President Peter Schröcksnadel will travel to South Korea for the Olympic Games. However, the joy seems limited, fascinating and unique he does not find Olympia long ago any more.

Because the fuss, which is organized around the Olympic Games, is far too much for Schröcksnadel, as he criticizes in the courier:”For me Olympia has long since ceased to have the glamour of the past,” because in former times Olympia would have caused sparkle in the eyes, had exercised a great attraction:”It was another time, Olympia had something unique at that time. Unfortunately, the situation has now changed.”

Why is that so? One necessarily sees Olympia “with different eyes” when one is in official function at the Games. The development that Olympia would have taken would also be a thorn in his side:”Olympia has become too big. There are far too many competitions in the meantime, Olympia has become unmanageable in my opinion. It’s no longer tangible. I find this development a pity.”

Nevertheless, Schröcksnadel is still aiming for 15 medals with the ÖSV, even if he is not satisfied with all of them:”We expected more from the ski jumpers and the combiners. On the other hand, our snowboarders are very successful again” For the snowboarders, the ÖSV would also put a lot of money into their pockets:”I like snowboarders and support them wherever I can. For the Anna Gasser, for example, we have bought a special mat system so that she can practice her tricks. That cost 150,000 euros. We’re doing a lot of work.”

The President knows the recipe for success from his past:”At the 1992 Games in Albertville, everyone was complaining about me. Which isn’t a shitty descent. We’re not gonna rip anything, and, and, and, and…. Then I said: the mountain is ours. And then Patrick Ortlieb took gold and Günther Mader won the bronze medal.”

Will a simple “South Korea belongs to us” be enough?
