MLB: Cleveland Indians fear for pitcher Danny Salazar at the start of the season
The Cleveland Indians are worried about pitcher Danny Salazar. The right-hander threatens to fall out after problems on his shoulder at the start of the season.
Officials of the Indians declared on Thursday that Salazar had an inflammation in the right shoulder during his litter program in January. He has meanwhile resumed the program, but now he has a considerable training gap.
“We are focused on Danny being able to help us for most of the season as he normally is,”said General Manager Chris Antonetti.
“If that’s gonna be the case on opening day, great. If it’s gonna be later, fine. What I want to do is look at the bigger picture and try to get the most out of Danny for much of the season,”Antonetti told reporters.
Shoulder injuries are nothing new for Salazar, who has had such problems in the last two seasons. In 2017, he only had 103 innings as a result.
