Olympia 2018: Haaser apologizes for unnecessary “gay”-sayers
Austrian ski racer Ricarda Haaser apologized for her verbal slip-up after the Olympic giant slalom. What had happened? Haaser, the 17th. after the race, was interviewed by the ORF.
“The whole second run was more relaxed and fluid, but still not enough. But the feeling was better than in the first run. Above all, it was much better upstairs, because I didn’t go down as gay as in the first run,”said the 24-year-old afterwards and harvests heavy criticism.
Via Facebook, Haaser finally apologized:”If I have offended someone with my statement, I apologize. That was not my intention,”said Haaser. However, the Fauxpas could not be completely wiped off the table.
One user, for example, analyzed:”Why does a person always use the word “gay” in such a context? What does a person’s sexuality have to do with speed on the slopes? Of course, an interview like this doesn’t mean the end of the world, but in principle you have to think when a person makes such primitive statements!”
To the not enough, other users saw “hurtful words”,”an entire social group denigrated” and “lack of model function”.
