NBA: ESPN: LMA and Horford the last picks
For the first time in the history of the NBA, the All-Star teams were assembled by two captains this year and not sorted by East and West. ESPN has now learned that the two Big Men Al Horford (Team Curry) and LaMarcus Aldridge (Team LeBron) were the last picks.
The NBA didn’t really want to announce this order, so the All-Star Draft between LeBron James and Stephen Curry wasn’t shown either. Now it’s leaked, and Aldridge has no problem with it:”I’m not a flashy player. That’s okay,”commented the six-time all-star in Spurs service.
“We are all All-Stars, so at the end of the day we should be just thankful that we are here,” he continued. Of course, we all like the competition and that’s why it’s not easy to be the last to be selected, but at the end of the day it’s just nice to be here.”
In the course of the format change, many media representatives, but also players themselves, demanded that the draft be shown openly. Even Commissioner Adam Silver recently said that you could have a lot of fun with it. However, the idea was blocked at the insistence of Player’s Union in order not to put their players in a bad light.
“I think the draft on TV would be outstanding and it would be fun to see the two captains talking to each other,”Curry explained on Friday,”but we also have to protect the dignity of our boys and not expose anyone. That’s the main thing.”
