Olympia 2018: Lindsey Vonn wants to continue” eternally

Lindsey Vonn is the big and sentimental favourite in the Olympic downhill on Wednesday at the Korea Winter Games. Asked if this will definitely be her last Olympic downhill run, the American said she was only 99.99 percent sure,”I’ve never said that these are definitely my last games,”said Vonn.

With 81 World Cup victories, vonn is the most successful ski racer of all time. For this winter she has set herself another Olympic gold goal, next winter she wants to compete against the men in Lake Louise in the World Cup.

But she would prefer to go on forever, Vonn said on Tuesday in the finish area of the descent in Jeongseon:”Who knows, maybe someone will invent something like a robot knee and I can drive it for another ten years,”said the 33-year-old.

That, says Vonn, would be the ideal scenario for her:”Because I love what I do. I have so much fun driving fast and pushing the limits. There’s nothing I’d rather do than ski. I would go on forever,”she said,”but at the moment it takes a lot to get my knee around so that I can go downhill. I’m hoping for medical miracles that could prolong my career.”

For the departure on Wednesday there is a clear situation, said Vonn:”It’s all or nothing. So there’s no need to get nervous or think of pressure. Because then I will definitely lose,”said the 2010 Olympic champion. She can only give anything.”Then I can be satisfied one way or the other.”
