Olympic Games 2018: Canadian women curlers remain without a medal for the first time

The Swedish and British curlers entered the semi-finals at the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. The Swedish team led by Skip Anna Hasselborg defeated China 8-4 on Wednesday.

It was the sixth victory in the eighth game for the 2006 and 2010 Olympic champion. The Brits defeated Canada 6:5. The South Korean team had already qualified for the semi-finals on Tuesday.

For the first time in the history of the Winter Games, Olympic gold medal-winning women’s curlers from Canada will remain without a medal. After the eighth of nine group games, with a record of three victories and five defeats in the final duel with the Olympic athletes from Russia (20.05 o’ clock OZ/12.05 CET), it is no longer possible to qualify for the semi-finals.

In the men’s singles, Sweden is the only team in the final four. The Scandinavian skipper Niklas Edin, who has already won two World Cup and six European Championship gold medals, won seven of his eight games in South Korea so far. German athletes are not represented in Pyeongchang for the first time since the resumption of Curling in 1998.
