Olympia 2018: Combiner team wins and sets German gold record

Following the individual successes of Eric Frenzel and Johannes Rydzek, the German combiners won the team competition in Pyeongchang for the first time in 30 years, thus setting a German gold record at the Olympic Winter Games.

Frenzel, Rydzek, Fabian Rießle and Vinzenz Geiger prevailed after each jump from the Großschanze as well as 4×5 kilometres in the cross-country ski run with a lead of 52.7 seconds ahead of Norway. Bronze went to Austria (1:07.8 minutes back). For Germany, it was the second gold medal for the combined teams since their success at the premiere of the competition in Calgary in 1988.
