Olympia 2018: Germany plays for gold: These are our hockey heroes
Finale! The German ice hockey team will play for gold in the semi-finals against Canada after a superb 4-3 win. The final against the Olympic athletes from Russia will take place early Sunday morning.
Prior to that, SPOX national coach Marco Sturm and his 25 heroes will be briefly introduced.
The national coach: Marco Sturm
He is the architect of success: Sturm, formerly a world-class player himself, failed with his team in the 2017 World Cup quarter-finals because of Canada, but this time things went better. Even without the NHL top performers, he built a perfectly functioning team that performs particularly well in the tightest of situations. Plastered the motto “GLAUBE” in large letters into the changing room – and that’s how it is played. With this performance he might even have recommended himself for the NHL. But first the masterpiece against Russia!
Goalie: Danny from the Birch (32, EHC Red Bull Munich)
Guarded at the 2017 World Cup in his own country, his fourth world championship overall. Before the tournament the German flags and the eagle painted on the helmet. His dog is called Zeus (-chen) and lives with his girlfriend in Iserlohn:”Like the last games we have already blocked everything, given everything, ate pucks,” bites into at least one silver medal on Sunday….
Gaolie: Dennis Endras (33, Adler Mannheim)
Since 2004 he has been in the DEL since 2004, meanwhile also in Helsinki and the Houston Aeros between the posts. 2010 was his great moment, he was awarded as the best player at the Home World Championships and was called “Hexer” by his fellow players. Meanwhile in Mannheim, because:”It’s nice to know where the next savings bank is” Danny spins her back from the birch trees. They are his second Olympic Games – and his first Olympic medal.
Goalie: Timo Pielmeier (28, ERC Ingolstadt)
Pielmeier has also played through the Canadian and European countries. American province: St. John’s Fog Devils, Shawinigan Cataractes, Bakersfield Condors, Syracuse Crunch, Elmira Jackals…. you need to know where that is? No – only Pyeongchang! 2014 DEL-rookie of the year, one year later with the ERC runners-up,”Pill” comes along with a shaggy beard and a wallemanne, in the spare time juggling takes place. Deggendorf 4 Life.
