NBA: Strong Theis with Career-High – Worries about Jimmy Butler
While Daniel Theis conjures up the best game of his still young NBA career in the Boston Celtics’ victory over the pistons, the Minnesota Timberwolves fear for Jimmy Butler, who is injured at his knee. Meanwhile LeBron James plays his next triple double and the Milwaukee Bucks win a crazy thriller in Toronto.
The honeymoon of Blake Griffin and the Detroit Pistons seems to be history now. After the trade for the former superstar of the Clippers, Detroit won four games in a row – but the pistons are now trailing 1-4 from the past five games. The fact that the hosts had to admit defeat against the Celtics was mainly due to one man: Daniel Theis!
After starting center Aron Baynes had to leave the floor in the first half due to elbow problems, more time fell on the German side. He thanked them directly with a new career best score of 19 points. Theis sunk 8 of his 10 attempts from the field and also collected 7 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Thus, Theis made an important contribution in the second quarter, when the Celts broke away and won the round with 38:21. Led by Ish Smith, who met each of his first 8 throws and scored 20 points in total, the pistons fought their way up to 4 points towards the end of the third quarter. Boston responded with a 7-0 run and then the game was decided.
Theis ended the game as a top scorer, but five of his colleagues also scored double-digit points. Kyrie Irving scored 18 points – 5 in the deciding round alone – while Jayson Tatum and Marcus Morris each scored 15 points. Led by Theis, the Bank of Celtics dominated the Pistons Reservists at 65:21. On the part of Detroit, only the starters could keep up. Griffin scored 17 points, Andre Drummond scored a double-double (15 points, 17 rebounds).
Clear business in Indianapolis. In a duel against the currently worst team of the NBA, the Pacers did not let anything burn and laid the foundation for a casual blowout victory in the first half. More specifically, Thaddeus Young laid the foundation stone.
The 29-year-old scored 10 points in the first section alone, Young had 16 points up to break tea – and the Pacers had a 17-point lead on the credit side.”I just wanted to be the engine for our boys,”Young explained his strong performance.”I wasn’t necessarily looking for my offense, it kind of just happened.”
It was definitely not that simple for the Hawks this evening. The guests suffered 22 ball losses, which the Pacers converted directly into 31 points. The Pacers also moved the Spalding much better through their own ranks (30:14 Assists) so that the Hawks couldn’t make the match any more exciting.
On the other hand, Dennis Schröder in particular had to fight. The German did not have a good day and finished the game with just 9 points (3/12 FG), 2 assists and 4 turnovers. Best scorer was Guard Isaiah Tayler, who scored 17 points in his second NBA game.
Even if the Hornets are a little bit behind their own expectations, against the wizards it’s still running against them for some reason. In the third game in the 2017/18 season against the capital city team, Charlotte took her third victory. That night the reason was called Kemba Walker.
Already in the first half, the Hornets divided and worked out a 20-point lead. We just had no energy today, we didn’t have the focus,”said Bradley Beal, who led his team with 33 points.
Washington narrowed the gap in the third section to 6 points, but that’s all it took. This was mainly due to Walker, who scored 15 points in the third section alone, with the Point Guard contributing a total of 24 and 7 rebounds. So the guests turned the match around again and had a lead of 22 points in the final section.
Frank Kaminsky (23 points) also led the strong Hornets-Bank, who won the reserve fight with 50:26. Last but not least, Charlotte beat the wizards to 17 threesomes – the season’s best score for the Hornets.
