World-class slider Kevin Kuske has ended his active career with the Winter Games in Pyeongchang – as the most successful bobsleigh athlete in Olympic history. 39-year-old Nico Walther said on Sunday after winning the silver medal in pilot Nico Walther’s four:”I didn’t think about it much before, just wanted to enjoy the day. But that was it now.”

Kuske, bearer of the silver laurel leaf, had won four gold and one silver medals in the sledges of Germany’s bobsleigh icon Andre Lange between 2002 and 2010. But I don’t think about that,”Kuske said:” Andre is still the biggest pilot there has ever been.

After a long resignation after the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Kuske also sat in the sleigh of Thomas Florschütz and Maximilian Arndt. Some injuries and wavering form threw Kuske back at that time, but at times he was no longer the first choice in Arndt’s team. After his resignation he changed to Walthers Bob and the Happy End in Pyeongchang.

“I’m happy that we won a silver medal here after a tough ride,”said Kuske. The winter games in South Korea would have brought him “a few deja vu”.
