Olympia 2018: German heroes landed in Frankfurt
The German Olympic heroes once again have domestic soil under their feet. At 4.41 pm, Lufthansa’s LH 713 aircraft landed at Frankfurt/Main Airport on Monday.
With around 85 of the 154 German athletes on board, the aircraft took off in South Korea’s capital Seoul early Monday morning after the end of the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang.
Among the passengers who were expected to arrive at the airport for a big welcome party were Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot (gold in pairs), combined ace Eric Frenzel (two gold and one bronze) and some ice hockey silver medallists around captain Marcel Goc.
“It’s already special. We don’t have that kind of parade every day. That’s what we enjoy,”said Goc on ARD. After the national ice hockey team had lost the final against the Olympic athletes from Russia 3:4 after extra time on Sunday, the German House had been celebrating for a long time. We missed the first half, I think we all missed it,”said Goc.
On Sunday the Winter Games ended with an excellent result of 14 gold medals, ten silver medals and seven bronze medals for Germany. In the medal table, the German team took second place behind Norway.
