MLB: White Sox lose Prospect Jake Burger with Achilles tendon tearing
For Jake Burger, the 2018 season has already begun before it even started. The third base talent of the Chicago White Sox has torn his Achilles tendon.
In Monday’s match against Oakland Ahtletics in jumping practice (7:6 White Sox), Burger went down in an attempt to sprint to the first base after a ground ball. On Tuesday, the team announced that he would be operating in Chicago this week.
Burger was the eleventh pick in Draft 2017 and was already considered the third baseman of the future by the White Sox. However, nobody expected him to make it into the MLB squad from Chicago’s South this season.
The injury that will cost him the whole season, however, is likely to set the youngster back further, as he will probably need a season in the Minor Leagues at least to be ready for the MLB.
