NFL: Super Bowl Panel:”Last joint appearance of Brady and Belichick.”

Only two days left – the Super Bowl is finally imminent! The New England Patriots are still the bookmakers’ favorite, but the Philadelphia Eagles are anything but without a chance. And a completely different story hovers above the Pats. Günter Zapf, commenting on the Super Bowl at DAZN together with former NFL pro Björn Werner, will be discussing the Super Bowl in a panel discussion with SPOX editors Marcus Blumberg and Pascal De Marco as well as mySPOX user DavidSilva21x3. Super Bowl LII will be available live at DAZN on Sunday from 11.45 pm – either with German or US original commentary!

Marcus Blumberg (SPOX): Clearly, no! Brady recently emphasized that he didn’t give a damn about quitting soon. Belichick doesn’t want to retire yet and will certainly not leave his life’s work in the middle of it. And team owner Robert Kraft recently explained how he views Brady and Belichick in an interview. He even described Brady as his fifth child. All in all, I would be absolutely shocked if only one of them wouldn’t rush into the preparation for the coming season with full concentration a few days after the Super Bowl.

mySPOX-User DavidSilva21x3: I don’t believe that either. Regardless of the outcome of the Super Bowl, I cannot imagine and I do not think that without this ESPN report we would be discussing it at all. What reason could there be? Brady is coming out of a MVP worthy season again and I can’t imagine that Belichick would just leave the Pats now that they will lose both coordinators.

Günter Zapf (Commentator DAZN): I see it differently. For the first time this year there were real disagreements within the “triumvirate” Kraft-Belichick-Brady and, in contrast to the usual conventions, these also penetrated outside. Three such success and leadership personalities will certainly have problems in admitting success to each other. Who now has the biggest part in the great achievement of the Patriots? The truth is probably this mixture that makes it all possible, but deep down inside each of the three believe that he is the most important part. It is therefore surprising that things have been so harmonious for so long – at least to the outside world. Now Tom Brady’s impending career end comes along and you’ve got the decay of a dynasty in mind. I believe in the last joint appearance of Brady and Belichick.

Pascal De Marco (SPOX): I can’t go with you. I don’t see any scenario where one of them leaves or stops patriots after this season. Both characters have an unbridled appetite for success and want to take advantage of every opportunity they have left to collect more titles. Forty is just a figure, as Brady impressively demonstrated to us this year, but there are not too many years left in his career, that’s for sure. Belichick, on the other hand, knows exactly how difficult it is to be successful in the league and how hard it would be to start from a more difficult starting position elsewhere. The two have suffered enough painful defeats during the Patriots dynasty to make every Vince Lombardi Trophy all the more precious. You have the best chance of winning more trophies with each other and both know how important the other component of this relationship is for success. That’s why I don’t think there’s such an important reason for either one of them right now that it’s worth robbing themselves of the best chance of further titles.
