MLB: Royals appoint Lucas Duda as successor for Eric Hosmer

The Kansas City Royals have found a successor for First Baseman Eric Hosmer, who has moved to the San Diego Padres: Lucas Duda and Eric Hosmer agreed on a one-year contract.

Even though the deal figures were not officially announced, FanRag Sports reports an annual salary of $3.5 million.

Both ex-royal Hosmer and rookie Duda have a certain connection, because in the 2015 World Series, when Duda was still working for the New York Mets, Hosmer scored the run to equalize in the ninth inning of game 5 by throwing too high a proper home plate from Duda.

“It’s funny how things work in baseball sometimes,”said Duda, referring to the scene,”You definitely learn from mistakes. It makes you strong as a person and also as a player. I can tell the Kansas City fans out there who think I might not be the right guy, that I’ll make them lie.”

Manager Ned Yost, on the other hand, did not want to hang too high:”It is a unique action. If we try the play again, he might throw Hosmer out with a 10-foot lead. You don’t know. It just happened.”

In the previous year, Duda. 217 beat with 30 homeruns in 127 games for the Tampa Bay Rays and New York Mets. He started the season with the Mets, but was then traded in a trade between three teams to the Rays.

In a total of eight years, Duda. 242 beat with 138 home runs and 405 RBI in 812 games.
