The ankle!
The San Antonio Spurs seems to be pursuing the injury bad luck this season. In the game against the New Orleans Pelicans LaMarcus Aldridge was injured.
The All-Star landed in the Defense unhappy and twisted his ankle. Aldridge tried to keep playing, but he realized that it wouldn’t go on. Without their top scorer, the Spurs lost the game with 116:121 and lost further ground in the battle for the playoffs.
There was no information on how long Aldridge will be down, but fellow player Rudy Gay showed himself hopefully:”I think he will manage. We need our big dog, of course. He’s a soldier, he’ll play again soon.”
The Spurs had already had to give up Big Man Pau Gasol in the game, since superstar Kawhi Leonard has been missing for months anyway. Coach Gregg Popovich also gave an update on Leonard on Wednesday.
“There’s a protocol,”says Popovich.”He does what he has to do. He works hard, he wants to come back. When he feels ready and ready, he’ll come back.”
Overall, the players of the Spurs this season have missed 149 games combined due to injuries.
