MLB: Davis fails after MRI with elbow problems for the time being
Breathe a sigh of relief with the Baltimore Orioles: an MRI revealed no structural damage to the elbow of First Baseman Chris Davis. However, the power hitter has to step a few days short in jumping training.
Davis had undergone the examination on Saturday because he had a swelling in the flexor of his right elbow. The problems had already occurred on Wednesday, so he only played as a Designated HItter and not as planned at the first base.
However, he didn’t think the problems were so bad and thought they would resolve themselves. On Saturday, however, the arm felt even worse. Manager Buck Showalter now explained that Davis will be three to five days late.
In the pre-season Davis missed a month with an injury to the oblique abdominal muscle and only hit. 215 with 195 strikeouts in 128 games. In addition, there were 26 homeruns and 61 RBI. In 2013 (53) and 2015 (47) he still led the Big Leagues in homeruns.
