MLB: Ichiro Suzuki returns to the Seattle Mariners

The Seattle Mariners are bringing back one of the biggest stars in their franchise history: according to a media report, the team from Washington has signed a one-year contract with outfielder Ichiro Suzuki. However, one condition still has to be fulfilled.

Only a medical check is still standing between Ichiro’s return to his old place of activity. The Japanese had begun his probable hall-of-fame-career at the MLB in 2001 with the Mariners, promptly won the AL Rookie of the Year Award and was also voted MVP.

The 44-year-old was most recently on the Miami Marlins as a backup and beat 255/. 318/. 332 with three home runs, 20 RBI and a stolen base in 136 games.

Ichiro was voted All-Star ten times in Seattle in his eleven-and-a-half years and won ten Gold Gloves. In 2012 he was traded to the Yankees and then went to Miami.

In his career, Ichiro has had 3080 hits in the MLB and an average of 312. In 2004, he also set a new MLB season record with 262 hits.
