MLB: Cardinals have to do without Luke Gregerson for several days

The St. Louis Cardinals have to give up Closer Luke Gregerson for several days of jumping training. The right-handed person complains about problems with the oblique abdominal muscles.

“It doesn’t make sense to let him pitch now,”Mike Matheny told reporters on Wednesday.

Gregerson is new in St. Gregerson. Louis after signing a two-year $11 million contract in the off-season. Gregerson last worked in Houston for three years.

Gregerson only had one gig this year, Saturday. He didn’t give a hit in an inning and collected two strikeouts. In the days that followed, the muscle problems began, so that he did not pitch again on Monday as planned, but was treated instead.

“I think we’ll hold him back a little bit,”Matheny said, adding that the injury was probably not serious.

In nine years at the MLB Gregerson is 35-36 with a 3.02 ERA. In 2015 and 2016 he came up with 31 savings for Astros before Ken Giles took over last year as the closer.
