NBA: Media: Timberwolves engage Derrick Rose
The Minnesota Timberwolves have apparently secured the services of Free Agent Derrick Rose. The Point Guard, who fell victim to the major rebuild of the Cleveland Cavaliers, is said to have signed a contract until the end of the season.
ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Rose worked with coach Tom Thibodeau during his time at the Chicago Bulls. After his trade from Cleveland to Utah he was fired from jazz.
With its explosiveness, the MVP of 2011 is intended to strengthen the Wolves’ offensive and, at best, to fuel competition at the point guard position. Jeff Teague plays with 13.7 points per game and an average of 6.9 assists a solid season at best. Backup Tyus Jones has not yet been able to convince.
With Rose’s strong penetration, Minnesota could offer more options from the outside, especially as Jimmy Butler injured himself in the game against the Houston Rockets on the meniscus.
