NFL: Patriots dismiss Tight End Martellus Bennett

The New Englang Patriots let Martellus Bennett draw again. The tight end, who returned to Foxboro last season after his inglorious tour of the Green Bay Packers, was dismissed on Wednesday evening.

In the past off-season, Bennett was Green Bay Packers’ major new free agency entry after winning the Super Bowl with the patriots. In Green Bay, however, the chemistry was never right, and the dispute over Bennett’s medical approach to treatment was finally split up.

He spoke openly of the end of his career after suffering a shoulder injury for months. New England got Bennett back, but there he only made two more appearances before the season was over for him due to injury.

Bennett had one of his best NFL playing times in New England in 2016. The 30-year-old, meanwhile, recorded 55 catches for 701 yards and seven touchdowns in 16 games, but the forthcoming cap hit of $6.2 million was now obviously too high.

If Bennett wants to continue playing, he is likely to have a market. It’s a tight-end class full of question marks, starting with the one-dimensional Jimmy Graham over the injury-prone Tyler zeal. Bennett – if he is healthy himself – could be the most attractive option for many teams in the free agent market.
