Cycling: Tirreno-Adriatico: Roglic wins in Trevi, Thomas new overall leader

Slovenian cycling professional Primoz Roglic has won the third leg of the stage race Tirreno-Adriatico. The 28-year-old from Team LottoNL-Jumbo won after 234 km from Follonica to Trevi and a selective final ramp ahead of the British Adam Yates (Mitchelton-Scott).

The new overall leader is Yates’ fellow countryman Geraint Thomas from the scandal-stricken Sky team, ahead of Olympic champion Greg van Avermaet (Belgium/BMC) and his British team mate Christopher Froome (three seconds back).

On Saturday the fourth stage leads over 219 km from Foligno up to the 1345 m high mountain arrival in Sarnano Sassotetto.
