NBA: Celtics: Season out for Smart?
Marcus Smart could miss the Boston Celtics the rest of the season. This was explained by Head Coach Brad Stevens. Smart is suffering from a thumb injury.
“Before the game against the Wizards, Stevens said,” He’ll get the opinion of another doctor and then decide how to proceed and whether he’ll be operated on. That’s what the rehab plan depends on.”
Smart is suffering from a ligament injury in his right thumb, which he suffered last Sunday in the game against the Pacers. It is not yet clear whether he will return to the stalls this season. Stevens told Boston Sports Radio:”There is a chance that he will return sooner rather than later – but unfortunately it’s also possible that he won’t be playing this season at all”.
In addition to Smart, Celtics currently have to do without Gordon Hayward, who was injured for a long time, and Kyrie Irving (knee problems), Jaylen Brown (brain vibration) and Daniel Theis (meniscus tearing, out of season).
Stevens said to Irving:”The tests with his knee went well. He does not expect it to be a factor in the playoffs – but one wants to be very careful with Uncle Drew.
