NFL: Trade!
The New England Patriots have hit the trade market a second time after the trade for ex-Browns cornerback Jason McCourty: The Pats agreed with the Oakland Raiders on a switch from Cordarrelle Patterson.
According to information from NFL network insider Ian Rapoport, the Raiders receive New England’s five-round pick during the trade, while Patterson Oakland’s six-round pick goes to Foxboro alongside him.
Patterson could get a role as a speed receiver in New England’s offense, but another scenario is more likely: Pats coach Bill Belichick attaches enormous importance to his special team, Patterson is one of the best kick-off returner in the NFL and could also be employed elsewhere in the special team in New England.
The obligation also comes in the course of Matthew Slater’s probable departure. The long-time Patriots Special Team star met with the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend according to ESPN information.
