NHL: Kühnhackl and Holzer on course for play-offs
German internationals Tom Kühnhackl and Korbinian Holzer are heading for playoffs in the NHL. Striker Kühnhackl was on the ice 7’24” against record champion Montreal Canadians in Pittsburgh Penguins’ 5’3″ titleholder. Defender Holzer made it 14’23” for Anaheim Ducks 4-0 in the Calgary Flames. Both remained without a scorer point.
Pen superstar Sydney Crosby, who scored 3-3 in the meantime, played his team-mate Jake Guentzel 5-3 and celebrated his 700th birthday. Assist in the NHL. Pittsburgh is second in the Metropolitan Division. Anaheim is third in the Pacific Division.
A defeat in extra time was enough for the Boston Bruins to secure early entry to the playoffs. At the St. Louis Blues lost 2-1 to the six-time Stanley Cup winner, but secured the decisive point with the extra time. Boston is second in the Atlantic Division behind Tampa Bay Lightning.
