Handball: EHF Cup: Magdeburg qualified early for Final Four

The handball team of SC Magdeburg competed prematurely in the EHF Cup for the Final Four tournament (19th/20th place). May).

Coach Bennet Wiegert’s team beat SKA Minsk 35:30 (17:15), celebrated their fifth victory in the fifth match of the group stage and cannot be ousted from first place in Group A any more. As the organiser of the final tournament, Magdeburg will be spared the quarter-finals.

Bundesliga rival Füchse Berlin had won their quarter-final ticket early in the penultimate match of Group B on Saturday. At the French top club St. Raphael Handball won the capital with 34:25 (17:12).

Berlin thus took the lead of the standings ahead of France with the same points. With the results in the other groups, the Berliners will be able to win their last group match against the spotless taillight Lugi Lund from Sweden (1. April) even allow a defeat.
