MLB: Braves put Sanchez on DL after training injury
The Atlanta Braves have to give up Anibal Sanchez for now. The pitcher had pulled a strain of the large posterior thigh muscle while jogging in the outfield on Wednesday during training and was already placed on the Disabled List.
Sanchez suddenly stopped in the outfield during training and had to be treated for minutes. He was then taken away by car. Sanchez was supposed to pitch against the Mets on Thursday.
Who will start in his place is still unclear. The Braves initially activated Johan Camargo from the DL, but another move for a replacement starter is also conceivable. Sanchez is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in three games, including two starts, this season.
Sanchez is by the way not the only pitcher Atlantas, which landed on the DL. Reliever Jose Ramirez was also bet on the 10-Day DL. It is an inflammation of the shoulder. He got Jesse Biddle from Triple-A Gwinnett activated for him.
