NBA: Love injured in Cavs victory
Kevin Love injured his thumb again in game 2 against the Indiana Pacers. The Cavs’ Big Man had to leave the game in the fourth quarter. Coach Ty Lue is still counting on Love in the upcoming game.
As Dave McMenamin of ESPN reports, Love has pulled a partial tear in his left thumb. The Big left the field a few minutes before the end of the game against Indiana and was examined immediately. The x-ray was negative. Accordingly, Coach Lue said he expected Love to be available again in Game 3.
“I saw the rerun and it didn’t look good,” Love said after the game. “It was very painful, but I told Coach Lue that I could play again. But I think the coach was satisfied with the flow and let the other bigs continue to play.”
At the same time Love assumed that the thumb would probably still cause problems tomorrow, but with a little ice and tape it will probably work.
Love missed six weeks during the season for a hand fracture, but returned to the playoffs in time. In game two Love scored 15 points, but again had problems with his throw (5/16 FG). Already in the first game the Power Forward scored only 9 points, but took 17 rebounds.
