MLB: Kepler-Homerun to lead in the ninth inning is not enough for Twins

Max Kepler brought his Minnesota Twins (8-6) into the lead against Tampa Bay Rays (6-13) with a home run in the ninth inning on Friday evening. But the team from Florida worked their way into an extra inning and secured the sixth victory of the season.

“Sometimes baseball just isn’t fair,” Kepler said after the game. “It’s hard because we really did a lot right today. We’ve had to take a lot today, almost too much.”

The Rays were already leading 6-2 before Eddie Rosario’s Grand Slam Homun equalised two outs and two strikes in the eighth inning.

When Kepler set the score to 7:6 in the next section, there were many indications of a comeback victory for the Twins. “This could have been our game winner, but that’s baseball,” said the German.

Rays-First baseman Brad Miller sent a pitch from Closer Fernando Rodney to the mound and provided a late equaliser with a single. Denard Span hit a hard ball flat into the Right Field, Joe Mauer plowed after the shot and successfully intercepted it. His chip on relief Zach Duke came too late, however, so the decision was made in favour of the Rays.
