MLB: Moment of shock for the White Sox: Reliever Danny Farquhar loses consciousness
Danny Farquhar from the Chicago White Sox gave us a fright on Friday night. In the 10-0 defeat to the Houston Astros, the relief pitcher lost consciousness after his performance in the sixth inning and had to be taken to the surrounding hospital.
“It takes your breath away when you don’t know what’s happening,” said White Sox manager Rick Renteria. “When a teammate has a seizure, that puts everything else into perspective a little bit.”
Farquhar was approachable again when he left the stadium, but will remain in hospital for further tests. Renteria and coach Herm Schneider reported supporting Farquhar immediately after his loss of consciousness.
31-year-old Farquahr was hired by the White Sox in July 2017. Prior to that, he worked for the Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays.
