NBA: Historical: NFL superstar Rodgers joins the Bucks
The Milwaukee Bucks made a historic announcement against the Boston Celtics on Friday: NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers has become a partner in the franchise.
Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) sat on Game 3 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center and was shown on the video cube, with which the Bucks announced the news. He becomes the first active NFL player to hold shares in a franchise in another sport during his career.
“As a big NBA and basketball fan, this is a dream come true for me,” Rodgers was quoted in a Bucks statement. “I look forward to deepening my love of Wisconsin sports as a partner in a team I love and support.”
It is not known how large the stake Rodgers acquired is, but majority owner Wes Edens told the journal Sentinel that it is quite significant: “From his point of view, this is not about vanity or complacency”.
Rodgers, 34, is one of the most popular and biggest stars of his sport. The quarterback won the Super Bowl in 2010 and was named MVP of the NFL in 2011 and 2014.
