NBA: Media: Skyliners talent Bonga signs up for the NBA draft
Isaac Bonga of Fraport Skyliners has registered for the NBA Draft 2018 according to media reports. The 18-year-old German international is considered one of Europe’s best talents.
As ESPN reports, Bonga has submitted all necessary documents for the draft. The 2.03-metre-winged player has recently been repeatedly observed by numerous NBA scouts.
Bonga attracted attention for the first time at the age of 14 at the U16 European Championship in 2014 and also convinced in his further appearances in the juniors. In February, Bonga, born in Neuwied, was appointed to the A squad for the first time as part of the World Cup qualifiers and celebrated a successful debut against Serbia (79:74).
Bonga, with his height, speed and athleticism, has good prerequisites for an NBA player. However, it is unlikely that he will move to the Association as early as next season, provided he is drafted.
Bonga will play for the Fraport Skyliners in 2017/18, both in the professional team and in the youth selection. In the easyCredit BBL he played an average of 5.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists.
After Karim Jallow of Bayern Munich and Moritz Wagner of the Michigan Wolverines, Bonga is the third German player to sign up for a talent draw.
