MLB: Granderson leads Blue Jays to victory over Red Sox in Extra Innings

The Toronto Blue Jays (14-8) beat the Boston Red Sox (17-5) 4:3 in Extra Innings. Outfielder Curtis Granderson with a walk-off homun beat Closer Craig Kimbrel.

With an out, Granderson came to the plate in the tenth inning at 3:3 and hit Kimbrel’s third pitch in the At-Bat on the stands in the Right Field. The decision in a game that had made the Red Sox late again exciting. For Kimbrel, by the way, it was his first run in 2018.

“I’m just trying everything to help the team win or put us in position to win,” said Granderson after the game. “Whether I’m starting at the Right, Center or Left Field, I’m just trying to get to Base. I just try to do the little things, because my team just has the ability to play big in certain situations.”

The Blue Jays scored three runs in the second inning for an early 3-0 lead. After Kevin Pillar’s RBI-Fielder’s choice, it was already Granderson who had set the score to 3:0 with a 2-run single.

The Red Sox stayed up, however, shortened Hanley Ramirez’s RBI single in the sixth inning to 1:3 and then equalized in the ninth inning with RBI singles from infielders Eduardo Nunez and Brock Holt.

With their success, the Blue Jays reduced the gap to the Red Sox in the American League East to three games. For the Sox, however, it was already the third bankruptcy in series.
