MLB: 24 runs! Max Kepler’s Twins lose to league taillight
Max Kepler had to accept a bitter defeat with his Minnesota Twins (8-13) against the taillight of the league. They went bust against Cincinnati Redss in a wild game after leading 8-4.
Led by the star at the first base, Joey Votto, Cincy set out on a chase to catch up and provided, among other things, with a 6-run inning in the fifth round for the 15:9 final score.
Votto came six times on base, two times on scoreboard and needed another player to come home. Second Baseman Jose Peraza showed two home runs and the Reds set a season record of 20 hits.
The Twins had to take their eighth defeat in a row. Kepler was 3 for 5 and scored a double and an RBI. “Every day that passes, the challenge increases,” said manager Paul Molitor about the current earnings crisis. The 61-year-old is worried about injuries in the pitching squadron. “With the short starts you start counting the outs early,” Molitor lamented.
