NFL: Lions trade Akeem Spence to Miami
The Miami Dolphins continue to invest in their defensive line via Trade: After Miami had already brought Robert Quinn from Los Angeles, the Dolphins now also grabbed Akeem Spence.
Spence moves from Detroit to Miami for an undeclared 2019 draft pick. The Lions had only signed the defensive tackle last offseason, when Spence signed for three years and nine million dollars.
His cap hit over the next two years is three as well as $2.5 million, after the 2019 season he becomes an unrestricted free agent. The Dolphins are obviously trying to compensate for Ndamukong Suh’s departure by a deeper rotation in the defensive line.
Spence, who spent his first four NFL seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, collected 39 tackles and three sacks in 16 games in Detroit. In his NFL career he has 135 tackles and 8.5 sacks.
