NBA: LeBron about Cavs: “Impossible for me to lose confidence”

Cleveland Cavaliers have returned to the Conference Finals after four wins in four games against Toronto Raptors. Superstar LeBron James then commented on the status of his team.

“We are happy to be part of the Eastern Conference Finals again and to have the opportunity to play for a title. That is our goal and that is why we are very pleased. We want to improve further in the course of this week,” James said at the concluding press conference. Cleveland now has a few days to wait for the winner of the series between the Celtics and the Sixers.

But the Cavs are not at their limits, as James said: “In every game we have, in the seven games against Indiana and now in the four games against Toronto, we try to get to know each other better and get used to each other,” explained the four-time MVP. “I’ve known Kevin (Love), Tristan (Thompson), J.R. (Smith) and Kyle (Korver) for a long time, of course, but it’s still a learning process for everyone else and we need to help them get their best performance for us. The good news is we’re going to get another round for this.”

After the disappointing Regular Season and the tight streak against Indiana, the Cavs were not considered to be the favourites in the streak against Toronto. James, however, has always believed in his team: “My self-confidence never wavers, that’s just me. I believe in what I bring and what I can give to this team, and I believe in my teammates,” James said.

“When all my team mates wanted to bury them alive in the first round, I just kept telling them that we can’t win if everyone doesn’t do their job,” the superstar continued. “It’s impossible for me to lose confidence in our team, even if we’re behind – if I lose confidence, what does that mean for our team?”

James now wants to make perfect use of the upcoming days off. “We’ll enjoy the days off now, but of course we’ll stay on the ball and take a close look at what’s happening in Game 5 of the other series. But we have earned the right to rest a little and to recalibrate mentally,” explained the 33-year-old.
