NBA: Sixers coach Brett Brown: “Need help to win the championship”
The Philadelphia 76ers have been eliminated in the second playoff round despite high expectations. Head coach Brett Brown now said the team needed even more help. At the same time, the Sixers are thinking of extending their trainer.
“When the time is right, we’ll need help to win a championship,” Brown said at the Sixers’ final press conference. “This is our goal and this is the answer I give.” What a player would help the young Philly team, however, the coach did not say.
With Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid the Sixers have at least once a good core. Brown added that a new player should definitely match the two stars. “For the first time since I’ve been here, we know exactly what we have. “It should be clear which players could join us.”
Brown will also remain at the core of the Sixers, as General Manager Bryan Colangelo indicated to Jessica Comerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia after the PK. “I’ve spoken to Brett several times this year and told him I want to talk to him about extending the contract,” Colangelo said.”
Brown’s contract expires next season, which is not an ideal situation for Colangelo. “This is not good, because it affects so many things. We’ll talk about an extension in due course.”
