NFL: Colts: Luck still not throwing – team optimistic

The Indianapolis Colts remain optimistic about the coming season for Andrew Luck. The quarterback, who is still working on his comeback due to his shoulder injury, is still not training with a regular ball.

According to Pro Football Talk, head coach Frank Reich reported on the weekend – but not without adding that “everything is going according to plan” and Luck is developing very well.

“The schedule is good,” Reich continued, “he does everything we ask of him. There is a specific plan for him to be fit by the start of the training camp. He didn’t want to skip a step. I don’t know if that was the case last year, but I think he felt the pressure to come back quickly. And that didn’t work right away.”

These statements fit with the information provided by NFL network expert Charley Casserly, who also reports that Colts officials internally firmly believe that Luck can throw regularly again at the start of the training camp.

Luck had already confirmed at the beginning of April that he is not yet working with a regular ball: “When the time comes, I’ll take him into my hands,” explained Colts franchise quarterback, who last played for the team in 2016. “I don’t feel perfect right now.”

He blamed his impatience, also for the long rehabilitation: “I do not want to repeat the same mistakes and must not miss a step. I am very self-confident and very optimistic. I’ll be completely healthy and come back stronger than before. “I’m gonna be a better quarterback, a better teammate and a better person.”

Meanwhile, managing director Chris Ballard announced on the team website on the sidelines of the drag that there were “some inquiries” for his quarterback shortly before last November’s trade deadline: “But come on. We don’t take them seriously. We’re not trading Andrew Luck. I’m not putting that on my resume.”
