MLB: Acuna out prematurely after back and knee pain

The Atlanta Braves fear for rookie Ronald Acuna, Jr. The outfielder left the game of his Atlanta Braves on Sunday at the Boston Red Sox (7:1 Atlanta) with complaints on his knees and back.

Acuna sprinted to first base in the seventh inning and scored an infield single. Shortly after crossing the base he went spectacularly to the ground, but left the playing field under his own steam.

“We really don’t have reports from the doctors yet, except that it hurts,” said manager Brian Snitker after the game. “He’s been examined, so we’ll know more soon.”

Acuna stretched her arms from her body to signal that he was safe. Then his left foot gave way and he tripped to the ground and somersaulted. He then slowly walked away, but did without a wheelchair, which was brought out for him.

Acuna was 1-3 against Boston and scored a run for the Braves. He beats .265 with five home runs and 13 RBI in 29 games.
