NBA: Warriors: New contract for Steve Kerr?
With the Golden State Warriors, head coach Steve Kerr is apparently about to renew his contract. Owner Joe Lacob wants to negotiate a new contract soon.
“We’ll sort this out this summer,” Lacob told ESPN. “Now let’s give him a little break. But he wants to stay with us, and we also want him to stay with us for a long time.”
Kerr finished his fourth season as Warriors coach, winning the title three times. His original contract runs until 2019, but it is said to have been prematurely extended. The 52-year-old’s health problems are no problem for the franchise. Kerr had missed parts of the last two seasons with back problems.
After game 4 and the finals sweep against the Cavaliers, Kerr told ESPN Radio about his health: “The job and my family help me deal with it. Of course, there are always difficulties when you have health problems. But if you have a job you look forward to every morning after waking up and if you have a great family, then it’s worth fighting through.”
