NBA: KD: Players are afraid to go to the dubs
Kevin Durant believes that many players would not be able to handle the pressure and criticism if they played for the Golden State Warriors. Besides, the forward doesn’t think LeBron James will move to the Bay Area.
“I don’t think that’s going to happen,” Durant replied to Jimmy Kimmel Live when asked if LeBron James could join the Warriors this summer. “I’m not sure, but I’m sticking to my thesis.”
Durant, who joined the Dubs via Free Agency in 2016, also added that “many players are afraid” to play for the Warriors. “The reactions are extreme. I don’t know if certain players are ready for it,” Durant tried to support his statement. “I’ll tell all the free agents who are interested in the Warriors.
Durant handled the reviews reasonably well and won the title of final MVP twice in his two years in the Bay Area. LeBron would probably also be immune to the violent reactions, as he proved in 2010 when he left Cleveland for Miami.
However, switching from James to the Warriors doesn’t seem realistic anyway, as the four All-Stars all earn between 17 and 38 million dollars. Golden States’ focus in the Free Agency is primarily on Durant, who can withdraw from his contract this summer.
