NBA: NBA Draft: Will One-and-Done be abolished?
The NBA has announced possible changes to the draft rules. The controversial one-and-one-rule could soon disappear.
This is reported by ESPN, citing a memo sent by the league to all 30 teams. It states that changes in the draft process will not be possible before 2021 at the earliest.
Specifically, it is about the requirements that a player must fulfil in order to register for the draft. It is therefore quite possible that the controversial one-and-done-rule will be lifted as of this year. This states that a US player who comes from high school must play at least one year in college before he can be drafted.
If this is revoked, players can be drafted directly from high school again, as was the case with LeBron James in 2003, who never played in college.
The memo was created by the league so that the teams take into account any changes that may occur in possible trades of future picks.
