NFL: Giants and Odell Beckham – no approach?

Will Odell Beckham reach an agreement with the New York Giants before the start of the coming season? The contractual talks between Beckham and the Giants are one of the constant topics around the Giants offseason. The receiver does not want a holdout – but there are probably no approximations either.

Asked by SNY whether he will be seen at the Training Camp in a good five weeks, Beckham replied: “Yes. Yes, you will.” And he became even more specific, to the question whether there will be a holdout: “No. No holdout.”

These are good signs for further talks: Beckham, who would start the season today under the contract option for the fifth year of his rookie deal and “only” collect 8.4 million dollars, has already been relaxed in recent weeks.

The Giants have also publicly declared that they want to sign a new contract with the receiver.

The Giants are said to be still a long way away from this and are sitting on the significantly longer leverage: In addition to the contract option for 2018, New York Beckham could keep 2019 below market value via the franchise day.

In terms of fitness, OBJ made significant progress eight months after his ankle surgery, as became clear during the minicamp. Even if he didn’t participate in the team units.
