MLB: Jackson sets record for most teams

Edwin Jackson made his Oakland Athletics debut on Monday in a 5-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers. With this the pitcher set an ominous record, the A’s are his 13th team in the MLB.

Jackson only made one run over six innings (7 SO), but he didn’t win because the A’s didn’t find their offensive until late in the game. Nevertheless, he played for his 13th MLB team overall, setting the record of the former relief team Octavio Dotel, who was active for as many teams.

“It’s always good to be wanted,” Jackson told reporters. “If I can’t find another team to take me back, I think it’s time to retire. But until then, I’m happy to keep playing. I want to continue to compete and have fun. “I feel like I still have something in the tank and can offer a team some value.”

Jackson joined MLB in 2003 and began his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but his breakthrough came in 2007 when he first pitched more than 100 innings. In now 1800 1/3 innings he has a balance of 98-120 and a 4.67 ERA and 1388 strikeouts.
