NBA: NBA Awards: Ben Simmons is Rookie of the Year

Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers has been named Rookie of the Year 2018. He beat Donovan Mitchell and Jayson Tatum.
At the NBA Award Show 2018, the Rookie Award was presented first. Simmons, Donovan Mitchell (Utah Jazz) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics) had made it into the last three.
The Philly player was considered to be the favourite and ultimately prevailed. “I thank my family and friends,” he said in a short speech that followed. He also emphasized how much he loves the city of Philadelphia.
The Australian was penalised in first place as early as 2016, but missed the following season due to a foot injury. He made his debut in 2017/18 and finished the season with 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.2 assists.
